Scheduling. Seniority-run picks for every 28-day work period. Vacation draws, awards, leave banks, payroll — full systems that finally talk to each other. And when your department needs one that doesn't exist yet, we build it.
The Problem
Workforce management platforms are great at the day-to-day roster — and that's where it ends. The moment your department needs a seniority-based shift bid, a multi-round vacation draw, or two systems sharing data, you're back to spreadsheets, paper, and weeks of admin time. That's the gap BadgeDog fills.
Printouts, phone trees, and a clerk tracking who's up next. One missed call and the whole line-up stalls — or worse, someone bids out of turn.
Scheduling in one platform, payroll in another, reporting in a third — and people re-keying the same data into each one, every pay period.
Seniority order, round limits, slot caps — your CBA defines the rules, but somebody still has to enforce them by hand and answer for every dispute.
“I wish our department had known you existed before we signed a $4.7 million contract — because BadgeDog actually does what we need, out of the box.”
The other apps are software companies that sell to public safety. We're public safety that builds software.
The Platform
Canned software makes your department fit the product. BadgeDog is a platform of complete systems that fit your department — and it's the last scheduling platform your department will ever need, because when you need a system that doesn't exist yet, we build it.
Live schedules, 28-day periods, placements, trades, and daily staffing — the roster your department actually runs on.
The seniority-run schedule pick, live and in order, from any device — with every pick on the record.
Round-by-round vacation draws with slot limits and per-round picks, exactly as your contract writes them.
Openings posted, bids taken, positions awarded by your rules — with the paper trail built in.
Accruals, hour banks, leave requests and approvals — balances that always match the contract math.
Classes, lists, and rosters computed from your rules — the one ranking everything else trusts.
The pay-affecting items your other systems can't represent — tracked once, exported everywhere.
Ranks, assignments, units, and personnel changes — plus documents, access control, and a full audit log.
Every department runs on rules that never made it into anyone's software — the rotation your contract invented decades ago, the trade ledger the union negotiated, the overtime carousel no vendor can spell. The big platforms put those on a "roadmap" and hope you stop asking.
We build them. Actually build them. Not "we'll pass it to the product team" — we scope it with you, build it into your BadgeDog, and it ships as a real system with the same audit trail, the same access control, and the same support as everything above. Your contract is the spec.
And the part nobody believes until it happens: we build it before you pay us anything. Why would we? Because what your department needs, other departments almost certainly need too. We learn your process, we build it right, and it makes the product better for every fire, police, and EMS agency we serve — not just you. So the build is our investment, not your bill.
We don't say no.
We ask "what do you need?"
Bidding
BadgeDog runs your shift and vacation bids end to end — in seniority order, by your rules, with everyone watching it happen live.
Run your schedule picks online, in seniority order. Members see the live line-up, know exactly when they're up, and place their bid from any device. Positions fill in real time — no phone tree, no war room, no disputes about who picked what.
Multi-round vacation draws with per-round picks, slot limits, and seniority rules — exactly the way your contract describes them. BadgeDog tracks every round, every pick, and every remaining slot so the draw runs in days instead of months.

Event Sourcing
BadgeDog is event-sourced — the same architecture banks run your money on. No other public safety software is built this way.
Here's what that means, in plain terms. Your bank doesn't store your balance — it stores every transaction you've ever made, and the balance is just the math. Nothing is ever edited, nothing is ever deleted; the record only grows. That's why you can dispute a charge from six months ago and the bank can show you exactly what happened, line by line.
BadgeDog treats your schedule picks, schedules, and hour banks the same way. Every action — every pick, every trade, every approval, every override a commander makes — is written to a permanent ledger the moment it happens. The "current state" is computed from that history. It can never quietly change, because there's nothing to change — only new events to add.
Most software works the other way: it stores what things look like now, and every change tramples what was there before. When the dispute lands months later, "the system says this now" is all anyone has.
Rewind to any moment — see the bid exactly as it stood at 09:14 on pick day.
Step through what happened — event by event, in order, with who did what.
Banking-grade rigor — your members' hours get the discipline banks give money.
We build every feature on one assumption: the action a commander just took will be grieved. Not might be — will be. So when it is, nobody argues from memory. You rewind the ledger, step through what actually happened, and the record settles it — for the department and for the member. That's not a feature we bolted on. It's the foundation everything else stands on.
The 28-Day Cycle
Law enforcement doesn't schedule week to week — it runs on the 28-day work period. BadgeDog treats the period as a first-class unit: officers pick their schedule for each 28-day period, in seniority order, and the finished period lands in your scheduling and payroll systems as one clean unit.
Period-by-period picks — every 28 days, every officer knows exactly what they're working, and the pick itself runs online in minutes instead of a week of roll-call sign-ups.
Seniority order, enforced — the line-up follows your policy or contract automatically, so nobody picks out of turn and nobody has to referee.
The same window your overtime uses — picks line up with the 28-day period your pay rules already run on, so what officers choose is what payroll sees.
Integrations
BadgeDog connects to the workforce management and records platforms your department already runs. Bid results flow back into your roster. Payroll items stop being re-keyed by hand. The data you already have starts working for you instead of against you.
Scheduling platform sync — push bid results and pull rosters from the workforce scheduling platform you already run, so the bid you run in BadgeDog lands in the schedule your department already lives in.
Payroll items — track the pay-affecting items your other systems can't represent, and keep them consistent across platforms instead of re-entered every cycle.
Custom connections — records management, reporting, HR. If it has an interface, BadgeDog can move data to and from it.
The Process
No rip-and-replace. BadgeDog sits next to your existing systems and takes over the work they can't do.
Your seniority list, your rounds, your slot limits, your schedule patterns — configured to match your contract, not the other way around.
From the precinct, from home, from their phone. Live line-up, instant notifications when they're up, and a clear view of what's still available.
Finished bids flow into your scheduling and payroll systems automatically — no transcription, no second source of truth.
For Your IT Department
StateRAMP. FedRAMP. CJIS. SOC 2 Type 1 or 2. These aren't items we're afraid of — they're items we plan for. Whatever compliance bar your department sets, we'll meet it, defined in the contract agreement.
Let's be straight, because that's how we work: BadgeDog holds none of these certifications today. No SOC 2 report of our own, no StateRAMP or FedRAMP authorization. We don't buy badges nobody has asked us for. What we do run on is a cloud environment that carries its own SOC 2 Type 2 audit and HIPAA compliance — the provider's credentials, not ours, and we'll always tell you which is which.
When a contract requires certification, we go get certified. That's the deal, written into the agreement: your department names the requirement — StateRAMP, FedRAMP, CJIS, SOC 2 Type 1 or 2 — the contract funds it, and we meet it. There is no boundary your IT department can set that we won't meet. We just need the requirements.
Honestly? It won't be cheap. Real compliance costs real money — audits, controls, evidence, time — and that cost lands in the contract. We're not going to pretend otherwise. But our opinion is simple: public safety spares no expense, and neither do we.
We treat your requirements the way you treat a 911 call: prepare for the worst, stay ready to adapt, and respond. Bring us the checklist your IT department can't get other vendors to finish — we'll work through it with them, line by line.
The acronyms we're not afraid of
SOC 2 Type 1 & 2 — the cloud environment we run on already holds a Type 2 report; when your contract calls for ours, we stand for the audit.
HIPAA — compliant hosting today, end to end.
CJIS — we know what touching law enforcement data means; name the requirement and we build to it.
StateRAMP / FedRAMP — if your contract requires authorization and funds it, we pursue it. That's the agreement.
Plus the list from the trust strip above: isolated per-department databases, role-based access, encryption in transit, and the event-sourced ledger under everything. Full posture on the Trust Center — internal policies and compliance documents are available per contract, on request.
BadgeDog is like a good dog: ready for whatever requirements you set forth. Send your IT department our way — we speak their language too.
Who We Are
That's not a slogan — it's our hiring policy. We don't hire people and teach them public safety. We hire public safety and teach them software. Public safety professionals who've stood line-ups, worked the trades, and lived with the schedule.
From the front line — not a boardroom.
One hundred percent of this company comes from public safety. We know what a bid means to the people in it — and what it costs a department when it goes sideways.
Weird is what we're for. The big platforms ask you to change your contract to fit their software — BadgeDog is configured to match your contract language exactly, article by article.
When the bid follows the contract perfectly and every pick is on the record, there's nothing left to grieve. Less time in dispute, more time running the department.
The other vendors say "whatever you want." We won't. If the way you run something is going to hurt your members or your bid, we'll tell you — straight, to your face, before it costs you.
You can overrule us; it's your department. But you'll never wonder what we really think, because we actually care whether you get better.
Why? Because we've done the job ourselves — and we are sick of what passes for software in public safety. That's why this company exists.
When your bid breaks at 06:00 on pick day, you get a person who's run a bid — not a ticket number. No tiers, no queues, no scripts. Someone who knows what pick day feels like, because they've stood one.
We also build labor.dog — union software for American public safety locals. We don't just read your contract; we build the software the people who negotiate it run on. When you talk to us, it feels like talking to someone who works for you — because we do the job.
One Country, One Mission
Built in the United States for the departments that protect it. Your contracts, your civil-service rules, your 28-day work periods — BadgeDog serves American law enforcement, and nobody else.
Who We Work With
BadgeDog works with law enforcement agencies only — and only the ones we choose to work with. Most departments arrive recommended by one we already serve. We're selective because the product is built together with the agencies that run it, and that only works when your department is as invested as we are.
We don't publish a customer list — strictly for our departments' security.
10,000,000+
American citizens are served by the agencies running BadgeDog, combined.
Police and sheriff's departments in the United States. No hotels, no hospitals, no overseas markets — we don't dilute the roadmap for anyone we don't serve.
Access is earned, not bought. There are no public sign-ups — we take on a limited number of departments at a time, and most come recommended by a department we already work with.
Your rules shape the product — that works when a department shows up invested, opinionated, and as serious about its bid as we are.
We only take on law enforcement agencies we agree with — because we're very opinionated about how a department should treat its schedule, its bid, and its members, and we're not going to sugar-coat that. If we think the way you run something is wrong, we'll say so before we ever sign.
That costs us business, and we're fine with it. A partnership where we bite our tongue helps nobody — least of all your members.
We're Hiring — Sort Of
Our hiring policy cuts both ways: we only hire public safety, so we're always looking for public safety. If you're active or retired — fire, police, EMS, sworn or civilian — and you want to help build the software your people deserve, we want to know you exist. No open-req theater; tell us who you are and what you'd build.
Tell us how your department runs its bids today, and we'll show you what it looks like in BadgeDog — with your rules, your ranks, and your systems connected.
We take on a limited number of departments at a time. If your agency is as serious about its bid as we are, we want to hear from you.
1 · A real conversation
With someone who's worn the uniform — not a sales rep reading a script.
2 · A mutual decision
We say no sometimes. So should you. A bad fit costs us both a year.
3 · We build your rules in
Together, article by article, before your first bid ever runs.
